The Federal Prize for Art Students honors young artists and graduates whose latest works will once again be on display at the Bundeskunsthalle this year. In the 27th edition of the competition, a total of seven artistic positions will be honored, which were selected at the beginning of the year by an independent jury from nominations from 25 art academies throughout Germany.

The students share prize money of €30,000 and receive a production grant, which allows them to create entirely new works for the exhibition. On display will be artworks on themes such as the relationship between humans and flora and fauna, vulnerability, care and ethnic origin, which will be executed in a wide variety of media. In addition to installations and new media such as film and rendering, the students also present sculptural works, paintings, graphics and woven textiles.

The catalog, poster and website www.kunst-wettbewerb.de were designed by Josephine Dishoni, Constanze Kohlhaas and Constanze Lorenz from Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle in 2025.

The competition and exhibition are funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and organized in cooperation with the German Student Union and the Bundeskunsthalle.
