On a story journey with bear and tiger!
Read aloud again on November 21! In 2025, the Upper Silesian Museum will once again be taking part in the nationwide Read Aloud Day. This time, the focus will be on classics of children's and young adult literature - in several languages: German, Polish, English and ... French.
This year's motto is: "Reading aloud speaks your language". It emphasizes the diversity of reading aloud and makes it clear: every language, every voice counts. Stories create understanding, promote intercultural exchange, strengthen togetherness and form the basis for learning to read.
A special highlight this year: stories by Janosch will also be read aloud - with his warm-hearted, often humorous tales about the little bear and the little tiger, he has been delighting children and adults alike for decades.
After reading the stories together, the lovable characters will be made into a practical pocket size and can then be taken on a long journey.
Without registration.
Did you know that Janosch comes from Upper Silesia?
Born in 1931 in Hindenburg/Zabrze in Upper Silesia, Janosch, whose real name is Horst Eckert, is a world-famous children's book author and illustrator. His childhood in a Silesian working-class environment not only shaped his world view, but also his narrative style, which is characterized by warmth, wit and a fine sense of humanity.
With characters such as the little bear and the little tiger, he created timeless classics of children's literature that have touched millions of people around the world. His stories tell of friendship, courage, freedom and sometimes homesickness. Perhaps it is precisely this quiet sense of heritage that resonates in many of his books. A piece of Upper Silesia lives on in every Janosch story.
