Since 2022, Bunt oder Blau has been the place to go for well-curated, urban and young live music culture. What began as a neighborhood festival at the harbor is now one of the most exciting formats for cross-genre music in NRW - everyone in Dortmund knows Bunt oder Blau as the ones who made jazz cool again - be it through "Doris macht Blau", DISCOJAZZ, Jazzwaffles here at Junkyard, or other creative formats with domicil, Projazz and Oma Doris, among others.
On September 20 and 21, 2025, the never-ending festival will be coming to JunkYard Dortmund for the first time - more colorful, bigger and more creative than ever before.

On Saturday, you can expect a top-class line-up with London singer Richie, who will be playing her only German show at Bunt oder Blau as part of her solo album tour. Also on stage will be RAH & The Ruffcats with their powerful mix of funk and soul, the Belgian band ECHT! with club-like electro-jazz and the internationally acclaimed free jazz trio Darrifourcq, Hermia, Ceccaldi. From Dortmund come the highly acclaimed local heroes Deafdawg and Mother Bear, who show just how lively the local scene is. The after-show party in the JunkYard hall will conclude the event.
On Sunday, the stylistic diversity continues with SALOMEA from Cologne, one of the most innovative voices between jazz, hip-hop and pop, taking to the stage. The protest and cult figure Ozan Ata Canani brings his unique blend of Anatolian psychedelic rock and socio-political statement to Dortmund. The queer-feminist band SO SORRY! from Berlin, the Swiss singer Yumi Ito, who is celebrated for her cross-genre compositions, and the British jazz trumpeter Olivia Cuttill will also be performing. The day will be rounded off by two Dortmund legends: Beards with Girls and Mecky Messer.
