Since the Spider Murphy Gang (SMG) from Munich were considered by many to be the spearhead of New German Wave in their heyday at the beginning of the 80s, a lot has happened in over 40 years of stage experience! Their roots go from synthirock, pop and wave sounds (e.g. "Wo bist du", "Ich schau dich an", "Skandal im Sperrbezirk") to rockabilly, boogie woogie, zydeco, jazz, swing, blues, country and ragtime with their album "Unplugged - Skandal im Lustspielhaus".
The Schwabing boys, who are also affectionately called "Spiders" by their fans, show with their unplugged concert that they are no simple pop band or NDW combo. Their search for traces starts at the beginning of the 20th century and harmonizes wonderfully with some of their own hits from the band's history. You will therefore not only find the tried and tested songs of the Spiders, but also Elvis, Chuck Berry, Hank Williams, as well as Canned Heat or Rocco Granata. This is unusual for the SMG, as they started out as a traditional and purist rock'n'roll band.

Frontman Günter Sigl takes on the role of entertainer and musical tour guide - telling anecdotes and special experiences to his audience. Guitarist Barney Murphy convinces with his acoustic instrument, Willie Duncan shines on everything that has strings. Pianist Ludwig Seuss shines with boogie woogie and jazz, and horn player Otto Staniloi masters his instruments both gently and powerfully. Andreas Keller and Dieter Radig, who complete the Spider Murphy Gang, lend the concert the right rhythm on their various percussion instruments. This creates an almost intimate atmosphere, as if the band were sitting on your living room couch.

But this special atmosphere is not the only thing that makes the gang's unplugged concerts a special experience. An evening like this is more than just music: the Spider Murphy Gang also tell the story of their band and of rock'n'roll. They talk out of the sewing box, anecdotes and special experiences emerge and the great hits of the Spider Murphy Gang are joined by rock'n roll classics. Spider Murphy Gang unplugged is therefore a very special highlight!
