Carl Lohse, who belonged to the "Lost Generation" and late Expressionism, created an oeuvre that is characterized by an inexhaustible power and concentration on the essentials, despite the repressions he suffered during his lifetime.
This is also reflected in the remarkable works on display from the 1930s to the 1960s, with their landscapes, portraits, animals and nudes. On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of his birth, also the 60th anniversary of his death, the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art Cottbus and currently the Museum Bautzen are honoring the painter with exhibitions. With our show, you can once again encounter the joyful liveliness of his works.
