About the author:

Carolin Emcke is one of the most important intellectual voices of the present day. With a doctorate in philosophy, she worked for many years as a foreign reporter and war correspondent, including for "Der Spiegel" and "Die Zeit". She has received numerous awards for her journalistic and publishing work, including the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade (2016), the Lessing Prize and the Otto Brenner Prize. In her books and essays, she repeatedly campaigns for social openness, democratic participation and against all forms of discrimination.
