Jan Martens created his first ballet piece in 2016 with "Turning Burning". With his large ensemble, the Belgian choreographer honors iconic figures of postmodern and minimalist dance such as Lucinda Childs and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. Martens focuses here on rotational movement in a work that is both hypnotic and powerful.

Twyla Tharp's 'The Fugue' immerses us in the avant-garde energy of 1970s New York. Inspired by Bach's 'The Musical Offering', it is a masterpiece of choreographic composition. Each of the three dancers represents a musical register: bass, alto and soprano. The music is created by the sounds of the dancers' steps on an electronically amplified stage.

With 'a Folia', Marco da Silva Ferreira attempts to explore the concept of ecstasy, joy and the state of trance that arises from a group's shared moment of dance. 'Folia' refers to a Portuguese folk dance from the 15th century with a festive atmosphere, in which all dancers freely unfold regardless of social conventions, gender or class. It is this idea that inspires the Portuguese choreographer to combine the Portuguese 'Folia' with the nightclub dances of our time in a mirror image.
