Chinesischer Filmabend: Freiheit – geboren aus dem Bruch

In the organizer's words:

An independently produced feature-length film and two short films from the Chinese-speaking world shed light on the topic of "freedom" from different angles. The films will be shown in the original language with German subtitles.

Films:

• An Unfinished Film ( D./Singapore 2024, 105 min.) is by the renowned Chinese director Lou Ye. It tells the story of a film team that sets off in search of clues to Wuhan, where they had to abandon a project ten years ago. In Wuhan, the team unexpectedly experiences the outbreak of Covid-19 and the subsequent lockdown. Between pandemic and self-reflection, a portrait of creative resistance emerges.
  
• Fruit Farm (2024, short film, 29:34 min.)
  A poetic look at rural work, intergenerational relationships and the right to memory.
  
• Clock People (2023, animated film, 6 min.)
  With black humor, this experimental film combines workers' voices with prehistoric human bodies - a subversive reinterpretation of history and language.

During the break, there will be a small Chinese snack and afterwards there will be an opportunity to discuss the films and their themes in moderated discussion groups.
