Christian H.-W. Krebs: Malerei ‐ Zeichnungen

In the organizer's words:

Hattingen-Welper, Thingstr. 40, open daily

"The starting points of my artistic work are experiences of movement from everyday life, which I then translate into drawing and painting: Standing up after sitting down, casually scribbling with my hands while talking on the phone, turning my head when I hear a sound or experiences on long walks, experiences of narrowness and expanse when walking, but also sudden stops, etc. It is the impressions, discoveries and sensations that result from these movements that are reflected in my paintings. The drawings shown here are created spontaneously during short breaks on various walks. When drawing, the activity of the hands replaces, so to speak, the activity of the legs when walking. I don't just draw what can be seen, but as an expression of my "hand work" I create moving lines that correspond with what I see. For me, drawing is therefore a form of continued productive restlessness. While working in my studio, this "restlessness" is translated into painterly and graphic gestures that condense into abstract images in the course of the work."
