Claudia Dreibrodt and Ernst Kujer have taken on the toughest rowing race in the world, the World's Toughest Row. They were the first German mixed pairs team, named Alpine Rowers, to row almost 3,000 miles across the Atlantic in a special ocean rowing boat; completely self-sufficient, unaccompanied and propelled only by their own muscle power. Their 7.5 m long and 1.7 m wide rowing boat was their living space; they slept in two cabins; their food, freeze-dried food, was prepared using a Primus stove; the sea water was made drinkable using a desalination plant; electricity was only available via solar panels and contact with land was only possible via a satellite telephone.
The racing fleet of 38 boats set off on December 11, 2024 from La Gomera (Canary Islands) with the destination Antigua (Caribbean). The teams, from solo rowers to a maximum 5-person team, needed between 37 and 65 days for the crossing in waves up to 7m high.
Experience their exclusive presentation with previously unseen pictures and film material, in which the two talk about their preparations and experiences and what it means to take part in this very special expedition rowing race as a couple.
