After a successful tour of Japan, The Rick Hollander Quartet is back on the road in Europe with its unique instrumentation and unmistakable style. Old and new are irresistibly combined in a collection of the band members' favorite songs, which they present in an exciting and surprising new way.
Michael Marginter's saxophone and flute playing combines great virtuosity with sensitivity, honesty and musical intelligence. Guitarist Paul Brändle enriches the band's identity with his keen sense of harmony and melody as well as his calm, level-headed playing. Bassist Giampaolo Laurentaci, who comes from Lecce in Italy, is a driving and confident force in the quartet. He studied in Groningen and Barcelona and brings his vast knowledge of the jazz tradition to bear with a strong pulse.
Whether on drums or steel drum, bandleader Rick Hollander envelops the quartet's sound with broad and fine lines. His broad spectrum of timeless ideas make up the sound of the whole band.
