Strangled, vomited on and almost shot. With the desperate words "Your job sucks!", the new trainee throws in the towel after just a few hours. As if paramedic Randy and his driver buddy Mike didn't know that themselves in view of their bleak everyday working life with unprecedentedly miserable pay. But even for old hands like them, the next 24-hour shift is a tough one. Not only do they have the exhausting student Jessica on their hands, but the smug senior physician Dr. Serano is also annoying with his overbearing nagging. Then there are all the junkies, homeless people, schizos, speeders, the half-dead and the dead of this world, who make it damn hard for Randy and Mike to do their job.
