Dance knows no age - that sounds comforting, doesn't it? After decades of dance careers, Maura Morales and Sebastian Rowinsky know that the reality is often very different. Because the fact is: a resilient body is a finite resource. At some point, the opportunities for employment dwindle. In ASHES, the duo share the experience of inevitably coming up against the threshold of old age with their own dancing ability. In a state of pause and shared understanding, fear and grief threaten to condense into torpor. Michio Woirgardt composes the music to which both dancers release this shackle. And begin to dance. Because there is also confidence and an unbroken passion. ASHES is a radical commitment to the power of possibility in art and channels the utopian energies of the threshold space.
