Fidelity or fleeting desire, constancy or passion - what is the value of love? As they cannot agree on the question, Alfonso proposes a wager to his younger friends Guglielmo and Ferrando. The two officers believe in the fidelity of their fiancées Fiordiligi and Dorabella, Alfonso wants to prove the opposite. Ferrando and Guglielmo are to feign a sudden deployment to war, then seduce the girls - each of them the other's girlfriend - as disguised strangers in order to test their steadfastness. But can you bet on feelings? What begins as a game quickly takes a dangerous turn.

"Così fan tutte" was written in 1790 and concluded what is now known as the Mozart / Da Ponte trilogy. Once again, the poet Lorenzo Da Ponte and the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ironically expose the double standards of love and partnership, not without taking a differentiated look at subjective emotional worlds, which Mozart's music in particular is able to explore in depth.
