WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The plot of Mozart's third opera in collaboration with his congenial librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte revolves around six characters. Within 24 hours, the lives of two couples are thrown completely off course: Guglielmo and Ferrando make a bet with the cynical Don Alfonso on the fidelity of their lovers Fiordiligi and Dorabella. Don Alfonso is certain that he can prove the two sisters' infidelity with the help of the maid Despina. The two men are disguised as strangers in order to seduce each other's mistresses. In this game, fake and real feelings merge.

At the end, the "fake" couples celebrate a finalized double wedding before the two sisters are informed of the true identity of their new husbands. Although the six participants draw a seemingly cheerful and conciliatory conclusion, the laughter sticks in everyone's throats. Will the lovers find themselves back in their original constellation? Which feelings were and are genuine?
