When Cradle of Filth met with commercial success in the early 1990s with their sound rooted in black metal with influences from symphonic metal, they were downright despised by many metal bands. Today, with their iconic corpsepaint, theatrical performances, imaginative artwork and varied sound, the band led by singer and founder Dani Filth is considered one of England's most successful extreme metal bands and is celebrated at festivals and on tours worldwide.

Following their formation in Suffolk, England, in 1991, the first album "The Principle of Evil Made Flesh" was released in 1994 , followed by "Dusk... And Her Embrace" (1996), which was crowned with great success, breaking the band worldwide and establishing an absolute Cradle of Filth classic with the title of the same name. With their theatrical live show and iconic shirt designs that attracted worldwide attention with provocative slogans, the band quickly became a phenomenon in the metal scene, loved and hated in equal measure. After "Cruelty and the Beast" brought Cradle of Filth into the charts for the first time in 1998, the EP "From The Cradle To Enslave" celebrated the next big success in 1999 with the title of the same name. This was followed by the albums "Midian" (2000), "Damnation and a Day" (2003), "Nymphetamine" (2004) and "Thornography " (2006), all of which achieved worldwide chart success and turned songs such as "Her Ghost In The Fog", "Nymphetamine Fix" and "Temptation" into further hits for the band. The sound moved away from the raw black metal influence of the early days and developed into catchy metal suitable for the masses with influences from hard rock, dark metal and symphonic metal. After the release of "Goodspeed on the Devil's Thunder" (2008), Cradle Of Filth released four albums in the 2010s, continued to be celebrated worldwide and further developed their epic extreme metal sound. With both "Existence Is Futile" (2021) and their fourteenth and latest album "The Screaming of the Valkyries" (2025), Cradle of Filth have once again modernized their sound and taken it back into heavier territory. The current album reached number 5 in the album charts in Germany and thus celebrated the band's highest chart entry. Cradle of Filth still fascinate with the high screams of singer Dani Filth amidstsymphonic elements, modern synthesizers, melodic clean vocals, hard metal riffs and thunderous blast beats, while songs such as "Necromantic Fantasies", "She Is A Fire" and "Malignant Perfect" have established themselves as modern hits.
