Initiated by the collaboration between Dan Daw Creative Projects and Kampnagel, meetings of disabled artists from Hamburg have been taking place since spring 2023. The group organizes the meetings on its own responsibility. The group has chosen the name Crip Art Now! (CAN! for short). It invites all Hamburg artists who identify as disabled, chronically ill, deaf and/or neurodivergent to the meetings. Their supporters who are specifically working to remove barriers in their artistic processes are also invited.
The meetings will be held in German, English and DGS. There are beanbags and chairs. There are regular breaks.
Anyone who would like to take part can register at cripartnow@gmail.com. Please let us know what accessibility requirements you have for the meetings.
When people with and without disabilities make art together, there are no barriers.
The meetings were attended by artists with disabilities and their allies.
Allies are pronounced: Äl-leis.
That means: supporter.
Allies are people without disabilities.
Artists with disabilities and their allies fight together for this goal:
There must be no barriers to the work of artists with and without disabilities.
You can be at the meetings,
Neuro means: something to do with the brain.
Divergent means: something is different.
Neuro-divergent people think differently from most people. They are different from most people.
