Must Pride fulfill a left-wing political claim or strengthen broad social solidarity

Today, Christopher Street Day is caught between the poles of political protest and colorful parade. Originally created as a militant act against discrimination and exclusion, CSD is now often supported by major brands, corporations and institutions. But how much political depth remains when the CSD becomes a stage for rainbow marketing?

The central question is whether the CSD must continue to represent a clear left-wing political claim - or whether it is just as legitimate for a broad social center to show solidarity, even if this happens through commercial actors. At the same time, it will be discussed whether this mainstream acceptance can actually lead to more social support and political impact - especially in times of increasing queer-hostile attacks.

These questions will be discussed in a panel discussion, inviting critical debate: Are corporations and institutions needed and what values and content are being communicated?
