During our Curator's View tour, you will accompany our curatorial team through the exhibition Kinder, Kinder! and take you on a captivating journey through six centuries of artistic depictions of children - from iconic paintings by Titian and works by Paula Modersohn-Becker to modern photographs by Nobuyoshi Araki and Rineke Dijkstra. How has the depiction of children changed between the 16th century and today? The exhibition explores this question and sheds light on the diverse perspectives and functions of images of children over the centuries. Whether as a symbol of power and domination, as an expression of compassion or as snapshots of happy and sad childhoods: The works show how the understanding of what it means to be a child has changed and at the same time illustrate how important the childhood phase of life is for us as individuals and as a society.

During the tour, our scientific team will approach the topic from different perspectives and present highlights from the exhibition. Find out how the exhibition was conceived and what stories and meanings are hidden behind the works.
