Daniel Kahn appeared on the Kampnagel stage as a hunter in Socalled's puppet musical THE SEASON and in A SONG FOR ESTHER with Peaches, among others, composed theater music for productions at the Maxim Gorki Theater, released over a dozen albums and has been living on a houseboat in Hamburg since 2021. In November, the Detroit-born songwriter, poet and multi-instrumentalist will release his new album UMRU / UNREST (Oriente) - a continuation of his many years of exploring Yiddish music and at the same time a manifesto for a transnational Yiddish culture that opposes fascism and violence. From klezmer to apocalyptic jazz, from grotesque cabaret to intimate campfire music, from Yiddish traditionals to songs by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and Tom Waits: In a trio with violinist Jake Shulman-Ment and multi-instrumentalist Christian Dawid, Kahn unfolds a rousing energy and will now also show live at the Kampnagel Club why for him the term "multi-talented is an outright understatement" (laut.de).
