Fog. Thirteen children are adrift at sea after a shipwreck. The provisions won't last much longer. Not for all of them. The discovery of an island brings hope: Perhaps there is an alternative world here where they can be children and live together according to their own rules? But every night, memories, fears and nightmares eat away at the group. Some say the number thirteen means bad luck, others say it's superstition. But what if they are really only saved when they are no longer thirteen? And which of them is surplus to requirements? A fight for survival begins in a confined space and radical decisions are made.
Swiss director Fabiola Kuonen combines chanting, musical and choreographic elements with the expressionism of Georg Kaiser. Thirteen players aged 9 to 18 explore the classic and add their own perspectives and the big questions: At what price do we want to survive? What values and rules determine how we live together when everything is at stake? What kind of world do we want to live in?
