At the big "general knowledge" quiz duel in Dortmund, we transform Shades quarterly into a lively meeting place for all those who fancy a cozy and sociable evening with like-minded people, exciting quiz rounds, cool drinks and lots of games, fun and good humor!

The tournament mode

Our tournament offers space for up to 24 teams of two players each. We play 7 duel rounds in the Swiss system. This means that in each round you play against a team that has the same number of points as you and that you have not yet played against. This way, you automatically get to talk to other quiz fans and can easily meet new people and like-minded people.

The three teams that have won the most quiz duels at the end of the evening can not only look forward to fame and honor, but also take home a quiz trophy. And don't worry: even the team in last place won't go home empty-handed. As a small, humorous consolation prize, the "Golden Pile" awaits you.

How a quiz duel works

A quiz duel consists of 15 questions - a varied mix of different topics.

For each question, you first have 30 seconds to decide whether you want to answer it without help. In this case, you will not be given an answer. If you are correct, you will receive 2 points.

If you decide against it (or let the time pass), we will then give you four possible answers. You have another 30 seconds to make your choice. If you answer the question correctly, you will receive 1 point.

In total, a maximum of 30 points are possible per quiz duel. The team with the most points wins.
