As part of the exhibition Anatomy of Fragility - Body Images in Art and Science, the Frankfurter Kunstverein, in collaboration with S. Fischer Verlag invites you to a series of events by Harald Welzer: The House of Emotions. A series of talks on the internal politics of our emotions. The four-part series takes place in media partnership with hr2-Kultur.

Much of the political disenchantment, everyday irritation, irritation and diffuse unease in Germany today has to do with the fact that the self-evident things that long formed the background to our own orientations and attitude to life have been lost. This does not take the form of conscious reflection, it forms a political emotional structure - something is no longer right, does not feel right.

When habits that are taken for granted, a world that is taken for granted, disappear, people are deeply unsettled without really knowing why. This background feeling tinges the perceived reality without being able to specifically name or link causes and effects. When the complexity and speed of change increase at the same time, this gradually removes the secure foundation of everyday life.

The result is a political feeling that seeks connection without knowing why. But it is precisely this groundlessness that makes it perfectly compatible with offers that seek to exploit it.

This four-part series of talks examines the internal politics of emotions from a psychological, sociological, political and aesthetic perspective.

Bodies and emotions are unthinkable without each other. In public space, bodies are political actors. Admission to the event is between 17:00 and 19:10. Please note that there is an admission stop from 19:10. If you arrive after this time, your seat may be released for the Box Office.

Harald Welzer, born in 1958, is a social psychologist. He is the director of FUTURZWEI. Stiftung Zukunftsfähigkeit and the Norbert Elias Center for Transformation Design at the European University of Flensburg. His books published by Fischer Verlagen include: Täter. Prof. Franziska Nori (*1968 in Rome, Italy) has been director of the Frankfurter Kunstverein since 2014. Under her leadership, a program was created that develops social themes at the interface of art and science. The exhibitions and discourse events focus on the changing relationship between humans and nature in the Anthropocene, the transformation of human perception in virtual worlds and through learning algorithms and artificial intelligence, as well as the political role of cultural institutions today. For this, she and the Frankfurter Kunstverein have been awarded numerous prizes for the best exhibition: Binding Kulturpreis 2019, Ausstellungspreis 2020 of the Dr. Marschner Foundation, art-Kuratorenpreis 2022 of art-Kunstmagazin. Nori is an honorary professor of museology and curatorial practices at the Marist University Lorenzo de Medici, Florence and a lecturer at the University of Bern.
