"Das Wunder von Bernd" - Ein Film von Alexander Waldhelm

The fourth film by Oberhausen-born filmmaker Alexander Waldhelm - after "Pottkinder", "Beziehungen - kein schöner Land" and "Darf ich das so schreiben?" - is now about several love stories that are told in parallel in "Das Wunder von Bernd". "The subject is inexhaustible and my aim is to look at love in different phases of people's lives." This ranges from youthful infatuation in one's early 20s to love at the end of one's working life. "In my opinion, there is no better theme for a movie. It's ancient, it's always topical, everyone can relate to it - from elated to heartbroken - and hopefully there's something to laugh about now and again."

There is plenty of material to fall back on - both positive and negative, says the newly divorced Mülheim resident with a grin. "I'm delighted that all the celebrities from my last film are back without exception - and a few more. Kai Magnus Sting, Fritz Eckenga, Uwe Lyko as Herbert Knebel, Hennes Bender, Rene Steinberg, radio chef Helmut Gote and, for the first time, cartoonist Oli Hilbring and actor HP Lengkeit can also be seen. According to Waldhelm, he can't thank the celebrities enough for remaining loyal to him for almost a full decade and four films and for not asking for a penny in return.

The comedy tells six parallel stories about four couples and two singles who struggle through the trials and tribulations of love. "There's a lot of emotion but also plenty to laugh about," says the filmmaker.
