Dave Douglas has been one of the most influential trumpet voices in contemporary jazz for years. With his new quartet, he unfolds a vibrant musical field of tension between lyrical delicacy, eruptive energy and a culture of improvisation that seems almost telepathic. His music remains deeply connected to the jazz tradition without ever allowing itself to be constricted by it.

As a composer, arranger and soloist, Douglas moves confidently between styles and forms of expression. He is a permanent fixture on the experimental New York scene - known for projects that interweave musical visions with social and political ideas. His work ranges from encounters with Horace Silver to projects that honor Roland Kirk or incorporate fusion elements.

Rudy Royston contributes the rhythmic driving force of the quartet with his lively, highly dynamic drumming. His subtle sense of dramaturgy and timbre makes him one of the most distinctive drummers of his generation.

Ingebrigt Håker Flaten - internationally acclaimed bassist and central figure of the Scandinavian and American avant-garde - brings an unmistakable blend of depth of sound, willingness to take risks and creative force. His playing combines raw energy with precise musical architecture and thus decisively shapes the band's sound.

The Dutch pianist Marta Warelis complements the ensemble with a fascinating combination of melodic sensitivity and experimental boldness. Her playing opens up new spaces, breaks down conventions and lends the music an extraordinary texture.
