On the occasion of the International Day of Democracy on September 15, Theresa Hertrich and Jan Krawczyk from the Public History Department of the University of Hamburg are offering two interactive city tours that will take us to (in)visible places of GDR history. These are the personal places of remembrance of people who came to Hamburg from the GDR at different times and in different ways. What do the Trostbrücke 1 or the Fischmarkt have to do with GDR memories or why did places like the Jungfernstieg and the Hanseviertel have a special meaning for people from the GDR?
