A manic walk through Naples: Lena Hugger and Cornelius Ferber feverishly follow the traces of around two hundred abandoned churches in the historic center. Initially, the concept of "transcendental homelessness" (Lukács) serves as a compass for the experience of a lost metaphysical foothold in modernity. A search for new forms of discourse, for a new sublime potential, begins from this and the dilapidated sacred buildings.
Along the way, this conception begins to shift: A changed experience develops from the theoretical exploration. Naples, which has been marked by crises for centuries, has found its own distinctive way of not only surviving them, but integrating them spiritually.
