Deine 8oer, meine 8oer, Vorwärts in die Vergangenheit – das waren die 8o-er!

The Berlin cultural journalist Jens Balzer aptly dubbed the 8o's as "the pulsating decade" in his biography of the decade "High Energy", which is well worth reading! In fact, the 1980s were definitely the golden age for pop and synth-pop, for post-punk and new wave, as well as for indie and NDW. And rap became hip hop - still the most eloquent and influential sound in the pop business today. In addition, the US television station MTV was launched in 1981 and everything remained different. As a result of MTV's massive presence, several solo artists became superstars in the 1980s, for example: Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, Tina Turner and Whitney Houston.

Compared to the previous decades - excluding the Beatles (6o) and punk (7o) - the 8o's were actually a relatively conservative decade.
But at least it was an extremely danceable one. Incidentally, the 12-inch vinyls that were invented in the late 7o's and went through the roof in the 8o's contributed significantly to this.
12-inch vinyls - better known as "maxis" . And here at the forefront is the old New Order hit"Blue Monday", which is regarded as the best-selling 12-inch of all time. And as Neil Tennant(Pet Shop Boys) so aptly put it at the time: >>Inthe long run, two record players and a mixer are more interesting than five guitars! <<

The CD turntables at the regularly irregular "Deine 8o-er, meine 8o-er!" parties are manned by Sojus 7 veteran Hubi 40 (real name: Andreas Huber) and his congenial Düsseldorf partner Thomas0 , two genuine "children of the 8o's" (keyword: musical socialization and first DJ sets). With bulging CD cases and a high degree of expertise, the now slightly gray-haired DJ duo tries to reproduce all imaginable sounds and songs, as well as to fulfill selected listeners' wishes. Unfortunately, Modern Talking still has to stay outside ...

The whole thing, by the way, under the motto:
