In the organizer's words:

We invite you to the Democracy Slam with Julia Zimmermann in the beautiful Rushmorepark at Orseler Sommer: Poetry Slam is also pompously called a "modern poetry competition" - the focus is on the spoken word. People of different ages and backgrounds compete against each other with texts they have written themselves, regardless of whether they are poems or prose, rhymed or unrhymed. These texts can be of any genre, funny, serious, thoughtful, often socially critical - the main thing is that they are self-written and presented in no more than 7 minutes. The audience decides who wins the evening. The Democracy Slam is all about the future, life and participation!

Julia Zimmermann (she/he) has been performing on poetry slam stages for over 10 years. She came to poetry slams at the age of 16 through a writing workshop at her school - the social worker now regularly organizes slams herself, including the Oberurseler Slam (@orschelerslam) at the Kulturcafé Windrose. For the last two years, she has been part of the organizing team for the HessenSlam, the annual state-wide poetry slam championship.
