DemokratieKiosk: Stricken mit Gefühl!

In the organizer's words:

Knitting with feeling! transforms the kiosk into an open knitting studio. Visitors first record their thoughts or feelings as a small drawing, symbol or word. These motifs are then transferred to knitting software and directly implemented on an electronic knitting machine. In this way, sweaters are created on site that make the voices, ideas and feelings of the participants visible and wearable and are created as a shared textile memento of the encounter.

Karina Liutaia is a visual artist and stage and costume designer who works at the interface of textile art, theater and participatory practice. In her projects, she combines textile crafts such as knitting, sewing and embroidery with conversations and collaborative work processes. She is particularly interested in how textile techniques can bring people into conversation with each other and how personal experiences can be translated into shared forms.
