In the first panel, moderated by transfeminist thinker and writer Jaya Jacobo, artist and researcher Stephanie Misa and curator Renan Laru-an will explore Filipino methods of art-making and cultural theory that deconstruct imperial visions of the tropics and the postcolony, each from their own perspective.

16:55: Voice Beyond Empire

Many of the pieces in the festival "Sincerely Yours, the Philippines" are dedicated to the voice. The improvisational and discursive performance "Voice Beyond Empire" provides space for reflection and further perspectives. In it, the voice and sound artists meLê Yamomo, Anjeline de Dios and Jaya Jacobo explore the modulations of post-imperial vocalities. Special attention is paid to diasporic tones and rhythms, which are most prominent in collaborative and co-creative soundscapes.
