Deniz Mahir Kartal – 10 years of »Kafanar«

Deniz Mahir Kartal - KafaNar

With KafaNar, Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist Deniz Mahir Kartal combines Anatolian melodies with the pulsating sounds of organic house and deep house. Rare instruments such as kaval, duduk and Çağlama meet electronic textures, loops and beats, creating a sound that builds bridges between East and West, tradition and innovation.

"KafaNar was born out of my quest to combine Anatolian melodies with modern electronic music," Kartal describes. "Each genre I have explored is like a seed and together they form a multi-faceted whole."

For the 10th anniversary of KafaNar, Mahir is presenting his new program and working on his second album at the same time. "This anniversary is a turning point for me. My music has reached a new level of maturity and is now being taken to the next level."

The result is a rousing live experience that appeals to body and soul in equal measure. An invitation to enter the space where cultural memory and sonic experimentation merge into a unique journey.
