Der Englische Garten

The band DER ENGLISCHE GARTEN from Munich has set itself the task of reflecting Munich's ambivalent attitude to life. A wonderful city - which has its price. The band describes their sound as "pop with punk spirit", in which different musical styles are skillfully combined to form a timeless whole.

Echoes of "Madness", "The Kinks", "Dexy's Midnight Runners" and Northern Soul are not necessarily intentional, but result from the musical socialization of the seven-piece band. A comparison with their colleagues from Hamburg, the "League of Ordinary Gentlemen", is also apt.

DER ENGLISCHE GARTEN have been searching for the perfect pop song for 20 years now. Most recently on their widely praised album "Bei Tag und Nacht", which was released on the Hamburg label "Tapete". Lush arrangements, fine melodic arcs and a refreshing groove are combined with enigmatic lyrics that approach the ambivalence of human existence in a sometimes ironic, sometimes surreal, but above all very passionate way. There are certainly breaks, but they never undermine the positive, optimistic mood of the music.

The world gives food for thought, but DER ENGLISCHE GARTEN do not allow themselves to be robbed of the joy of music and making music. This makes it a special treat, especially as a live band (including brass section).

The new single "Egomanische Despoten" by DER ENGLISCHE GARTEN will be released in November 2025.
