The grandchild trick by Frank Piotraschke
The grandchild trick is commonly known and notorious as a perfidious scam in which criminals pretend to be a close relative, often a grandchild, in order to extract information from older people in particular and then, under the pretext of a financial emergency, money from their noses.
But don't worry, we don't want our last premiere of the season to be about educating people about these scams. We are happy to leave that to the police and the White Ring. The meeting between grandmother and grandson, the first in well over ten years, provides all the prerequisites for such a scam. After all, they are two people who hardly know each other at all.
And isn't Manfred strangely insecure and reticent when answering questions about his family? But Veronica, who initially gives the impression of a charming, albeit somewhat dowdy, lady in her seventies, soon no longer gives the impression that she would let herself be spoon-fed so easily.
The longer the encounter lasts, the more it becomes clear that Veronica is not only capable of defending herself against anything and anyone, but that she herself has a lot on her plate, has been washed in all kinds of water, has hair on her teeth and has quite a few skeletons in her closet.
In any case, the plan she is pursuing puts Manfred, grandson or not, under more pressure than he would have thought possible...
