Fairy tale from the new era after E.T.A. Hoffmann

The young student Anselmus can't quite find his place in the world, he's always out of line, his career path doesn't seem to be guided by a good star. An unfortunate misstep in the apple basket of a market woman deprives him of the last of his money. Now penniless, he ponders his misfortune under an elder tree, when two blue eyes shine out at him from an elder tree. And so begins for Anselmus a strange love triangle with the bourgeois Veronika and the wonderful Serpentina, who, together with her father, the archivist Lindhorst, introduces him to the world of poetry, where he is trained as a writer and finally leaves the bourgeois world behind.

Hoffmann's fairy tale from the new, romantic era (1814) is dramatized for the first time on a marionette stage in a slightly adapted version.
