Berlin video store owner Micha Hartung (Charly Hübner), on the verge of bankruptcy, inadvertently becomes an all-German hero: When a journalist stylizes him as the mastermind behind the largest mass exodus in the GDR on the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Wall, his life is suddenly turned upside down. As an impostor against his will, Micha becomes entangled in a tangle of half-truths and outright lies.
Director Wolfgang Becker, who died shortly after the end of filming, dedicates his last film to the topic of GDR historiography, which brought him international success with GOOD BYE, LENIN! He brings together the stars of German cinema, including Leonie Benesch, Christiane Paul, Thorsten Merten and Daniel Brühl.
