Jabu and his mother, the good queen, live in the royal cottage in the Happy Land. Whenever decisions need to be made, the people come together in their garden. One day, however, quarrels and resentment grow among the people: The bird of hope no longer sings over the Happy Land. Now it is up to Jabu to bring him back. The task frightens Jabu and he is glad that Alva, the lighthouse keeper's daughter, accompanies him. The children sail far out to sea on an old ship in search of the bird of hope. On their adventurous mission, it is not swords and weapons that make them strong, but a small, comforting melody that Alva's mother has given them on their journey.

A multi-layered, contemporary and clever fairy tale that tells of the hope that one day all people will live together peacefully and of the power of forgiveness and kindness to save one another.
