DER IDIOT von Milena Michalek nach Dostojewski

Prince Myshkin is repeatedly referred to as an "idiot" in St. Petersburg society. This is the only way to explain why he is incapable of lying. On the train back from a stay in a sanatorium, the Prince meets Rogozhin, who tells him of his passion for the "frighteningly beautiful" Nastassya Filippovna. Rogozhin draws the Prince into a dark web of relationships, from which even his relatives around the resolute General Lisaveta Prokovievna and her clever daughter Aglaia cannot protect him. For everyone, he remains a good-natured "idiot", a holy fool in Christ, who does not fit into modern society because he holds up a mirror to it. The Idiot is Dostoyevsky's second "great romance", which author and director Milena Michalek has reworked and adapted for our times.
