At midnight there is great excitement: Mr. von Kuckuck, who always calls out the time loudly and punctually in his cuckoo clock, is hoarse! Desperate, he asks salt and pepper, who live on the kitchen cupboard shelf, for help. Because there is a danger that "the big ones" will put an end to his existence in the bin. Unexpectedly, the three come across a freshly baked gingerbread man. He comes to life, curiously discovers the world and wants to get some healing honey for Cuckoo. But to do so, he has to undertake an adventurous journey to the upper floor. Not only does he encounter a dangerous teabag and run into the paws of a starving mouse - things get even worse ... With courage, skill, imagination and the combined strength of old and new friends, they are finally rescued - for everyone.
First performed in England in 1976 under the title "The Gingerbread Man", this witty play tells of the magical power of true friendship.
