Nemorino, unhappily in love, wants to finally win the heart of the tenant Adina with the help of a love potion from quack doctor Dulcamara. However, she spontaneously decides to marry someone else. The fact that the effect of the potion is not due to magic but to its high alcohol content is ultimately of secondary importance. Because due to another incident, Nemorino is suddenly a coveted bachelor and still has a chance with Adina... Gaetano Donizetti's Love Potion, first performed in 1832, is one of the highlights of opera buffa in the 19th century. With fast-paced comedy and characters in the tradition of commedia dell'arte as well as music full of deep emotions, the love turmoil makes everyone laugh and cry in turn.
