Christmas wishes, children's dreams, fairytale magic: Peter I. Tchaikovsky's ballet classic "The Nutcracker" moves young and old alike every year. The composer has written an enchanting ballet score to the story by E.T.A. Hoffmann, which transports us to numerous magical scenes, strange worlds and snow-covered winter landscapes. The Mouse King and the Sugar Plum Fairy, coffee, tea and chocolate - they are all there and part of the familiar storyline, which, like Tchaikovsky's picturesque musical ideas, is an indispensable component. Anyone experiencing a performance of Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker" for the first time may be surprised by the abundance of familiar melodies such as the Waltz of the Flowers, the Dance of the Reed Flutes, the Waltz of the Snowflakes or the Chinese Dance.

The story experiences a hundredfold resurrection at Christmas time on stages around the world and in the hearts of audiences young and old. The International Festival Ballet has already thrilled Munich audiences several times in sold-out performances, so that the Christmas classic can now be experienced again - this time in the Carl-Orff-Saal in the Fat Cat / Alter Gasteig.
