The Munich Chamber Opera takes an amusing and satirical look at music and theater life with the comic opera Der Schauspieldirektor. Dominik Wilgenbus and Aris Alexander Blettenberg stage their very own version in the Silbersaal - fast-paced and relentlessly funny.

Problems then and now

For his upcoming premiere, theater director Frank needs money, functioning stage technology, outstanding singers and a brilliant story. And it soon becomes clear that we have been grappling with the same difficulties in the theater for several centuries as Mozart or Salieri did in their day. In this turbulent production, jealousy, artistic posturing and intrigue are at the forefront.

New version

The full-length one-act opera with partly unknown Mozart arias and ensembles becomes an operatic event in which the entire spectrum of the world in front of, behind and on the opera stage is unrolled. In the version by Dominik Wilgenbus and Aris Alexander Blettenberg, the audience experiences a new Mozart opera that pulls out all the stops of opera in a fast-paced, virtuoso and relentlessly comic way!
