Des Kaisers neue Kleider

In the organizer's words:

The well-known story about appearance and reality from 1837 has lost none of its relevance today. A humorous play with a moral and depth for the whole family.

Has Emperor Klemens gone mad? He struts around the palace square in his underpants. What has happened? Emperor Klemens is addicted to clothes. He believes he can only impress his people by wearing splendid clothes. The mistress of ceremonies and the finance minister are desperate: The country is broke!

Tailor Elsa and weaver Walter try a trick to save the day. They promise him particularly splendid dresses that will remain invisible to people who are stupid or unfit for office. The emperor is delighted, but a turbulent grotesque of lies and truth unfolds in the palace.

The stage set is mysteriously transformed before the eyes of the audience and leads to the glittering throne room, the tailor's workshop and the majestic parade on the palace square. In a musical feast of colors inspired by Beethoven's motifs with pocket trumpet, accordion, saxophone, trombone, clarinet, miniature spinet, guitar, ukulele and concertina, the audience experiences how, in the end, the clothes-addicted emperor is redeemed by a ruse and a small child.
