Photography is a powerful tool for self-expression, storytelling and community building. The three-part workshop taking place at STADT_RAUM aims to empower people with migration experience by providing space to explore and develop visual and storytelling skills through photography in order to gain confidence in expressing personal perspectives and collective experiences.
Alejandra Arévalo Martínez is a visual artist and photographer from Colombia. She studied Visual Communication (B.A.) in Weimar, completed her Master in Photographic Studies at the FH Dortmund in 2024 and deals with topics such as gender, migration, identity and cultural hybridity. She uses photography to create dialogical encounters that question conventional narratives through visual storytelling and illuminate the complexity of identity and belonging in transnational contexts.
