Cheerful crime comedy; charming and surprising

Agatha Rompton runs a small private boarding house in a rainy suburb of London. She runs the house with order and discipline, which is not always easy due to the very different temperaments of her tenants. But when Miss Crescent is found strangled one day, the peace is finally over.

Instead of the police, the three headstrong ladies hand over the investigation to a private detective - but only after they have carefully cleaned up the "crime scene". Without further ado, they hire private detective Victor Brown to solve the crime. He immediately recognizes the danger the three remaining ladies are in. However, he causes additional confusion by placing Jack, a shady young man, at their side without being asked. Although Jack takes his role as protector very seriously, he also sneaks around the house at night and snoops unabashedly through cupboards and drawers. This behavior would certainly be highly conspicuous if it weren't for the bizarre tenant Miss Basil and the curmudgeonly Miss Hans, both of whom also behave extremely suspiciously. And Miss Rompton herself also seems to have a rather obscure past ...
