Digital disinformation and AI-generated content are changing the way we perceive and evaluate information. In cooperation with the HKA - Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences and accompanied by the ZKM as an educational partner, the symposium "The Fabrication of Truth" offers a platform to make current problems visible and open up new perspectives.

Formats and contents

• Keynotes: Keynote speeches from science and practice - basics, research results and strategic perspectives.
• Workshops: Practice-oriented sessions for teachers, media professionals and multipliers (e.g. fact-checking tools, AI detection, didactics against conspiracy narratives).
• Short presentations (Lightning Talks): New research, projects and methods in compact formats.
• Panel discussion: Interdisciplinary exchange with the audience.
• Interactive stations & hands-on activities: Hands-on exhibits and demonstrations that make manipulation techniques and counter-strategies tangible.

The symposium is part of the project "Reality Check: Fake or Fact in the Age of Generative AI", which was initiated by the Institute for Intelligent Interaction and Immersive Experience at the HKA and is funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation. The aim is to sensitize young people in particular to the challenges of fake news, deepfakes and digital manipulation.

For teachers, journalists, students, cultural professionals, media professionals, interested citizens and anyone who wants to deal with the challenges of disinformation and digital media.
