What story can an everyday object tell? A hat, a marionette, a pill tube or a beer mug - objects like these add personal, often broken fragments of memory to the permanent exhibition Munich and National Socialism as part of the intervention Memory is ... .

In a dialogical tour, historian Nathalie Jacobsen (NS-Dokumentationszentrum) and provenance researcher Lisa Kern (Lenbachhaus) enter into conversation with each other - about the origin and significance of individual objects, about their links to biographies and historical events and about the question of how remembrance is made possible through objects. How can origin and context be reconstructed? What gaps remain? And how do objects influence individual and collective spaces of memory?

The tour invites visitors to question historical narratives and open up new approaches to the culture of remembrance from the perspective of concrete objects.
