In this production by the European Southern Observatory (ESO), the talented Greek filmmaker Theofanis Matsopoulos tells the story of the development of our nearest star and shows the Sun in extraordinary images. We present the full power and dynamics of the Sun in breathtaking detail.

The show also sheds light on the influence the sun has on every aspect of life. Entertaining and spectacular animations and video sequences show viewers the role of the sun in the creation and maintenance of life on earth - from photosynthesis to humans. They learn how the sun governs the course of the day, the year and the seasons and understand its influence on religion and culture.
