Music as acoustic arts and crafts to decorate everyday life? Where music today beats everything with similarity, the redistributors try to show the beauty of the other. They don't have to and can't reinvent music, but what they can do is allow it to be more than mere background music, an opportunity to clap along or the reproduction of the same old thing. Die Umverteiler are a relatively young band from Bamberg. They pick up on elements of German and American punk from different eras and combine them under the genre "progressive punk". From classic skate punk with fast beats to post-punk with reverb-soaked sounds to pseudo-pathetic ballads on the 12-string, everything is included. With their more or less socio-critical songs, they demonstrate the multifaceted nature of the punk genre and strive for one premise: Authenticity and its deconstruction!
