The white rose: inspiration for young poetry
Young poets perform their poetry and raps on the topics of civil courage, resistance and remembrance. Pure inspiration for us and our society!
A glimmer of hope in dark times A poetry project in schools
Pupils like to formulate their thoughts and feelings on difficult and moving topics in the form of poems - as they do when dealing with the protagonists of the White Rose and other resistance fighters.
The young people are thus part of a poetic tradition. The young members of the White Rose, especially Hans and Sophie Scholl, also wrote and read poetry themselves - as did the resistance fighters Hannah Szenes and Hilda Monte.
For the workshops at schools, poems and key statements by these historical figures are compiled in order to explore their thoughts and values. The aim is to inspire pupils to write their own poems. The historical theme of resistance is thus also reflected in the context of the present.
The project is intended to encourage reflection, improve linguistic expression and strengthen self-esteem, moral courage and a sense of personal responsibility. The results of the workshops will be presented at an event.
